Functional rehabilitation is an extension of the traditional elements of physical therapy, the purpose of which is to return the athlete to highly complex movement patterns such as athletics. As well as the traditional elements of physical therapy such as strength and flexibility, the functional rehabilitation program incorporates agility and proprioceptive/kinesthetic training, which enables the athlete to participate at preinjury levels of activity while reducing the risk of recurrent injury.
CUSTOM FOOT ORTHOTICS
Our custom foot orthotics are unique and specific to each patient. While most over the shelf and other custom made orthotic companies look only at the foot, we evaluate your entire body in motion with a functional evaluation. The exam and fitting process takes about 20 minutes and involves a static foam casting, a dynamic ink pedograph, a gait evaluation, and a functional evaluation.
Acupuncture originated over 3,500 years ago, making it one of the oldest healing practices in the world. There are as many as 2,000 acupuncture points on the human body that are connected by 20 “pathways”, which are referred to as “meridians”. There are 12 main meridians and 8 secondary meridians. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) energy or “Qi” is believed to flow along the pathways and can be influenced by stimulation of acupuncture points. Each point has a different effect on the body and stimulation of these points helps to restore sufficient, continuous, and even flow of Qi, thereby restoring balance and promoting wellness of the mind and body. Acupuncture can benefit a variety of neurological and musculoskeletal conditions, psychological disorders, and organ dysfunction. Acupuncture treatments vary from person to person, however, a typical treatment includes the use of 4-20+ needles, which remain in place for 15-30 minutes depending on the individual. Each needle is used only once and discarded after treatment commences. Everyone experiences acupuncture differently. Some individuals report relief of their symptoms immediately or shortly after treatment, while others, typically those with chronic complaints, require more than one treatment before symptoms dissipate.
